In Discussion settings, you can control commenting and email notifications. It may be good, for example, to have on a setting that comments from readers need your approval to be published. In that case, it is also good to allow email notifications to be sent to you when a comment is awaiting approval. If you do not want comments at all, you can also disable comments from the discussion settings.
Open the blog by selecting its name.
In the top toolbar, under the name of your blog select Dashboard.
In the main navigation menu on the left, select Settings > Discussion.
Choose the settings for Default post settings, Other comment settings, and Before a comment appears.
If you want to disable comments, go to Default post settings and clear the Allow people to submit comments on new posts checkbox.
If you want to approve all comments to be published, go to Before a comment appears and select Comment must be manually approved.
Choose the settings for email notifications (Email me whenever).
If you want to receive an email when a comment is awaiting approval, select Anyone posts a comment.
When creating a post, create the content and choose the categories, tags and image that describe your post. Use categories to group your posts according to a general theme (e.g. cat care, nutrition, activities). Use tags to describe the content of a post in more detail with keywords (e.g. indoor cat, outdoor cat). Tags will make your post more visible in search engine results. Make sure to set a featured image for your post as this will be visible in the list of posts on the front page and shared links on social media.
In the top toolbar, select New > Post.
Enter a suitable title for your post (Add title).
If you want to enter text, use the content editor (Content).
If you want to upload other content:
Select Add Media.
Choose the content from the media library or upload a new file by dragging it to the window.
Choose Categories that describe your post.
If you want to select a category that already exists, select it from the list on the right.
If you want to add a new category:
Select Add new category.
Enter the new category.
If you want to set a superordinate category for the new category, select one from the Parent Category list.
Click the Add New Category button.
Enter tags that describe your post. Use a comma to separate different tags from each other.
If you want to set an image that describes your post:
On the right, select Set featured image.
Choose an image from the media library or upload a new image by dragging the file to the Upload Files window.
Enter an alternative text (Alt Text) to describe the purpose of the image.
Click the Select button.
Save or publish the post.
If you want to save the post as a draft, click the Save Draft button on the right. In the main navigation menu on the left, select Posts to return to a list of your posts and their status.
